jessie tarbox beal's polly's and justine kurland's photo of some of the girls at st. ann's together after september 11th are two pictures that capture in their own way the intention of pixlife:
like and disparate sorts who live, create, and communicate be it through
a cafe, a patch of grass, or on the internet.
lena dunham, daughter of one of pixlife's artists, laurie simmons, was one of the girls in justine kurland's st. ann's photograph which appeared in the new york times magazine section shortly after september 11.
lena's comments appeared in that new york times issue as well, and pixlife asked lena to look at the picture recently and her current comments follow that picture along with justine's recent photographs of communes.
